The Story of the Day

This day represented the major breakthrough.

A group of us (including James de Raeve and Dean Adams) got together at Sacramento airport and drove up I-80 to Tahoe City. Very early in the season, the choice of resorts was pretty limited and after taking local advice from Richard Probst of Sun, we chose Alpine Meadows.

After a few warm up runs from the Meadow Poma, I signed up for a group lesson and when I arrived, I was on my own. I got a two hour private lesson which was the best thing that could possibly happen. Ernie, was a very patient teacher and within two hours he had introduced me to the basics of parallel turns.

From flat green runs, I progressed up the mountain to a pretty steep blue from the Weasel chair.

By now I am pretty close to being hooked on skiing!
